Obituary:  Times Picayune (New Orleans, LA), Saturday, 23 November 1946:  On Friday, November 22, 1946, at 9:55 o'clock a.m., Ezar Engeron Pitre, mother of Raymond and Albert Pitre, Mrs. Bernice Garay; daughter of Eva Smith and the late Charles Engeron; sister of Eugene Engeron; also survived by five grandchildren; a native of Houma, La., and a resident of this city.  Remains were forwarded from the Laudumier funeral home to Houma, La.  Funeral services will take place at Houma, La., on Saturday, November 23, 1946.

Bernice Pitre:  Houma Courier (LA):  Bernice Pitre Garay, 83, a native of Houma and resident of Westwego, died at 8:17 p.m. Saturday, June 27, 1998.  Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. to funeral time Wednesday at Westside Funeral Home in Marrero.  Mass will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with interment in Odd Fellows Rest Cemetery in New Orleans.  She is survived by one son Anthony Paul "Tony" Garay; special friend, Christian Finch; two nieces; four nephews; five great-nephews; and five great-nieces; and two great-great-nephews.  She was preceded in death by her husband, the Rev. Juan A. Garay; her parents, Odressie and Ezar Engeron Pitre; two brothers; and one sister.
