Obituary:  The Town Talk (Alexandria, LA), Friday, 19 October 1951:  Eugene Norbert Pitre, 52, of 728 St. Ann street, Alexandria, died at 1:50 a.m. today, Oct. 19, 1951 in his residence.  He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Viola Pitre of Alexandria, one son, Louis Pitre of New Orleans, three daughters, Mrs. Louise Saxton of New Orleans, and Misses Velma Jean and Arelene Pitre, both of Alexandria, four brothers, Albert Pitre of New Orleans, Ferdinand Pitre of Addis, Raymond and Norman Pitre, both of Alexandria, two sisters, Mrs. J. W. Tarver of Baton Rouge, and Mrs. J. E. Foret of Addis, and four grandchildren.  The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 20, 1951 in the Kramer Funeral home chapel.  Interment will be in the New Hope cemetery near Calcasieu.

Pitre; daughter of the late Melda Alexander and Maurice Bergeron; sister of Mrs. Sylvia Lang of DeQuincy, Louisiana, Mrs. Zita Wilson of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Mrs. Grace Cowan of Texarkana, Texas, Mrs. Luella Schoen and the late Mrs. Leila LeJeune, Harvey, Morris J. and Bib Bergeron; mother-in-law of Mrs. Shirley A. Tassin will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, January 20, 2007 in the Bolton Chapel of Emmanuel Baptist Church with Dr. Lee Weems officiating.  Burial will be in New Hope Cemetery, under the direction of Hixson Brothers, Alexandria.  Pallbearers will be J.B. Shelley, Brian Dyer, Phillip Dyer, Justin Shelley, John Premeaux, and Nippy Blair.  Mrs. Tassin, 89, of Alexandria died Tuesday, January 16, 2007 in Park Manor Skill Nursing, Conroe, Texas.  She was a member of Emmanual Baptist Church where she worked in the nursery for 62 years.  During her working career she was a private sitter.  Mrs. Tassin was a kind, giving person and a woman of unwavering faith.  Preceded in death by her husbands, Eugene N. Pitre, and Louis Tassin, Sr.; parents Sam and Lillie Bounds Burnett; brothers, George Burnett, Marvin Burnett, Leroy Burnett; sisters, Vera B. Tucker, Lillie Mae Foret, Marvilee Terrell.  Those left to cherish her memory include her son Danny L. Tassin and wife Winetta of Milan, Tennessee; daughters, Velma P. Dyer and husband Royce of Farmerville, LA; Arlene P. Hovendick and her husband, James of Montgomery, Texas; brother, Lonnie Burnett of Glenmora, LA; ten grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.  Friends may call Friday at Hixson Brothers, Alexandria from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. and Saturday at Emmanual Baptist Church from 12 p.m. until service time.  Memorials may be made to Emmanuel Baptist Church Preschool Nursery Fund, Alexandria, LA.

Pitre, Mrs. Louise Saxton; uncle of Carolyn Jean and Billy Louise Saxton; aged 22 years, a native of this city.  Relatives and friends of the family, also employees of 7-Up Bottling Co., Celotex Corp. and New Orleans Public Service Inc., are invited to attend the funeral, which will take place from the funeral home of Joseph Laughlin Co., Saturday, June 18, 1949, at 3 o'clock p.m.  Services at St. Stephen's church.  Interment in Valence cemetery.  Remains will arrive at 9:30 o'clock a.m. Saturday.

Pitre Sr.; brother of Mrs. Travis Saxton and the late Eugene Pitre Jr.; age 45 years.  Relatives and friends of this family, also employees of Avondale Shipyard, students of Redemptorist High School and St. Francis of Assisi School, are invited to attend the funeral.  Services from the funeral home of Joseph Laughlin Co., on Thursday, December 26, 1968 at 11 a.m.  Requiem Mass at St. Francis of Assisi Church.  Interment in St. Joseph Cemetery No. 1.

Velma Jean Pitre:  Funeral services for Velma J. Dyer, 78, of Farmerville will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, July 27, 2020 at First Baptist Church of Farmerville with Bro. Kurt Auger officiating.  Interment will follow in Liberty Cemetery, near Linville, La., under the direction of Farrar Funeral Home in Farmerville.  Mrs. Dyer went to her heavenly home on Friday, July 24, 2020.  Mrs. Dyer was an avid reader of Amish books, loved playing the piano and serviced as pianist at both Liberty Baptist Church and Mt. Ararat Baptist Church.  She enjoyed entertaining family and friends and sent cards to anyone and everyone.  Mrs. Dyer also taught children’s music and Vacation Bible School for many years.  She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.  Mrs. Dyer was preceded in death by her father, Eugene Pitre; and mother, Viola P. Tassin.  Left to cherish her memory are her loving husband of 57 years, Royce Dyer; children, Tammy D. Shelley (J.B.), Phillip D. Dyer (Lisa M. Houle-Dyer) and Brian E. Dyer (Kristen Hake Dyer); grandchildren, Justin Shelley, Phillip Shelley (Maggie). Marcel D. Dyer and Gabriella M. Dyer; sister, Arlene P. Hovendick (Jim); brother, Danny Tassin (Winetta); and a host of other family and friends.  The “Faithful Men” will serve as pallbearers.  Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m., Monday, July 27, 2020 at First Baptist Church of Farmerville.
